The Ukrainian Shumka Dancers of Alberta perform at the Winnipeg Centennial Concert Hall March 29 and 30. Shumka, which means whirlwind, is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the preservation, development and advancement of the Ukrainian culture as part of the Canadian heritage through dance. The organization was founded in 1959 and after 10 years of performing in western Canada they appeared in Expo '67. Since then they have performed around the world.
